1932年9月3日红二师师长叛变投敌，挟持第五团北入白区。彭雪枫将军获悉后，率15人潜行北上，五天后找到第五团，说服五团战士南返。彭雪枫将军因果断平叛，挽救部队，荣获中华苏维埃颁发的“红星勋章”。

On September 3, 1932, commander of the Second Division renegade and forced the fifth regiment to enter the area under the control of GMD. General Peng Xuefeng led 15 soldiers, creeping northward. Five days later, they found the fifth regiment and persuaded the fifth regiment south back to the war. General Peng Xuefeng was awarded the "Red Star Medal" by the Chinese Soviet for persuading the insurgency and rescuing the forces.
